![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() THE DOORS OF PRECEPTION The 60's, a time of total chaotic behavior! Everything between the hippy movements, free love, The Vietnam War, And Rock n Roll. There were a lot of different mentalities in this decade, drugs were ramped wherever you found people for the most part. In the midst of the madness and chaos there was music. And then there were The Doors. From Venice beach to Sunset Strip. The Doors enlightened thousands upon thousands of people all over the world. What was the catch? If you guessed Jim Morrison you guessed right. Any music lover will agree that the Doors deserved to be placed on a very high pedestal. The Doors weren't just a rock band, they were a philosophy and they still are. Although Jim Morrison died in 1971 the remaining three live on. And their music lives on. Myself for example I was born 8 years after Jim Morrison died and right now The Doors are by far my favorite band, better than anything popular you hear today! Not only did they open up a new genre of music but also a new genre of life. Their music gave meaning where there wasn't any. And destroyed the boundaries that kept every body locked away and afraid. Jim Morrison wrote the majority of the Door's songs. They came from poetry. Influenced by a wide range of sources everything from Greek philosophy, German Poets and even giant lizards. When people past and present hear the Doors no matter if it's on the radio a personal CD or whatever. You can't help but zone out and listen. It puts you in a mystical trance. In which the only release is the end of the song. Lots of people don't like the Doors. Now the reason is quite simple to realize. Some people's minds can't expand further than others. If you truly love music, you have to like the Doors. And I'm sorry for the people who only like Roadhouse Blues from hearing it every Friday and Saturday night at the club you still don't get it! The Doors music was and continues to be about reaching beyond the common goal and wanting things in life that wealth and popularity could never give you. It's about everything that isn't tangible that you can't possess. I could never tell you or explain it to you; it's just something you have to discover for yourself! And hope you don't get loss along the way! Follow the Lizard King! ---HuDson |
