![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ONE HIT WONDERS - I WONDER WHAT HAPPENED? Throughout the history of music there has always been bands that you can easily set aside from the rest. And you don't do this because of their greatness or the impact that they had or what they left behind. You do it because they made one song that lasted and made it and then died away from the scene never to be heard of again. The One hit wonders. The question I have is what happens to these bands? They were able to write, record, and perform one good song and then they die. Without knowing about the one hitters and their existence in the music industry, if somebody were to tell me that this did occur I would most likely look at them in disbelief because I can't understand for the life of me how a band can release one song that does really well and then just fade out. So what happens? Was that brief period of fame enough for the band? Were they just so disgusted with what they were becoming that they gave it all up without a second glance? Or, was that one song the property of some one else and they just couldn't live with the guilt of cheating or worst yet - perhaps they were found out and got into some serious trouble because of their fraud. There are many scenarios that one could run through his/her head… but the question still remains. If there is enough talent and skill to write a great song why stop at one? If I was fortunate and lucky enough to have a song that was going to make it I know I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I just gave up after that one song. But that's how it is, just one more thing in life that none of us can change. So I think I'll leave with a little mourning for the bands that may have been great such as The Verve Pipe, Marcy Playground, And so many more. - HuDson |
