![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() POP CULTURE If you're looking for Britney Spears, The Backstreet Boys or Nsync, you've come to the wrong place. Pop Culture the newest frontier of musical entertainment. Everybody has his or her own opinions on this subject. And what these two words mean to themselves and society. To me, it's a form of pollution. It's a style that teenie boppers live their lives by growing up in the young years idolizing people like Christina Aguilera and the boys from the Backstreet. Even myself once upon a time used to enjoy sitting down and listening to it. Then it hit me how fake and repulsive it really was. Where's the originality of it? You sit down to listen to the radio. You're listening to it for a couple of hours, all while flicking from station to station. You can't count how many times you'll hear something like Oops I did it again or Bye, bye, bye. It's overplayed and it almost gets to the point where you want to go nuts on the DJ playing the crap. I mean sure they got a few nice songs that you might consider being romantic or something like that. But how often can you sit down and listen to it over and over. It's tired, it's been done and the music industry is saturated with the shit. Just when you figured one of the groups are retiring or are washed out like New Kids on the Block. Another pops up. I don't get it. What's the attraction? Just the other day I was watching much music and they have this show they air about a boy band. First I thought it was an attempt to make fun of boy bands but then I realized they're actually a band. I could have cried it was so lame. What kind of record company continues to give deals to these bands. I've been in love with music for as long as I can remember. I have always enjoyed a variety and never discriminated against any band until I listened to what they had to offer. One of the things I have always respected and admired was when a band wrote their own music and played their own music. It was cool to know that they didn't pay someone to write it for them. That's the main reason all those boy and girl bands turn my stomach, they don't deserve to be put on the pedestal that they're on. They're fake, frauds, and an insult to anyone that writes their music and takes it seriously. I'm not writing this trying to warn off anybody who actually are a fan of this genre of music. I just want those fans to realize what it takes to make a great band and great music. And for the parents who's kid just can't wait for the newest Britney Spears album to come out so they can have it. Go out and buy it for them. But for the die hards out there, the people who enjoy just freakin out listening to Korn or Rage. Help make those flaky pop tarts and the little boy bands lose their popularity. I heard once, in order for something, anything to be great it has to be hard the hard is what makes it great. Bring back the great. --HuDson |
