Do you believe that everyone is brought into this world with a pre-ordained destiny? From the moment you're born to the time you die, everything in your life is mapped out? Well many people do, myself I’m a skeptic. After all, look at all the little variables that occur every single day in our lives, now perhaps I’m wrong and maybe I have a different idea of what fate is compared to other people. But if there is a map for our lives and everything is set from the time we are born, what a perfect example of engineering.

I can look at this as somewhat of a paradox, and there are so many things to take into consideration when thinking about this. Some people look at fate as being a huge tree with a lot of branches and limbs. To further explain this, I’ll use a small life example. You wake up one morning and decide to go to the mall for the day, but now your other choice was to stay home and do some work around the garden. Now these two choices represent two different branches one to stay home the other is going to the mall. Each one of these branches has hundreds of little limbs sprouting from them. Anyway you decide to go to the mall, now you’re hit with the choices of where to go in the mall the food court, sports store, and clothing store, whatever it may be. But lets just say that in one of these stores around the same time you go there (if you decide to go there) at the very same time you get there, there’s going to be a robbery in which your going to get shot.

Now all things considered, you don’t know this, and you’re still unsure where you’re going. But, that’s more or less the gist of it. From what I understand of fate, for every little choice there are set things or consequences that will follow, and a believer in fate knows this. But I don’t think that it scares them, I think I would find comfort in the fact that what ever is supposed to happen would happen regardless.

I’m not sure if I’m the type of person who would hold a lot of weight in the idea of a set future. I like to be the one in control of my own life, not some master engineering plan. After all, if we don’t have that control, what do we have?
